Toucans is a wonderful place for nudists:
the location, the facilities, the atmosphere, the weather, and most especially
the host/owners, Janet and Don Robertson, make it so. Their home and rental
casita are secluded within high walls on the edge of Liberia, a medium-sized
city in the hot dry state of Guanacaste. Within short walking distance of the
casita are restaurants, banks, and a large American-style grocery
store.
The Robertsons know the area inside and out and are more than
happy to take guests to places or show them how to get there themselves. The
casita is perfect for two people, including a queen bedroom, air conditioner
(which we seldom used), kitchen/dining room, and bathroom/shower. It opens to
the pool with a small waterfall, bordering garden area (with fresh pineapple
growing!), lounge chairs, and outside dining facility, all shared with the
Robertsons. There is a private entrance to the pool courtyard for casita
guests. Liberia is about 35 minutes from the beach and 25 kilometers from the
fabulous Rincon de la Vieja National Park. The latter contains volcanoes,
craters, bubbling mud pits, rainforest, hiking trails, dramatic trees and
flowers, exotic birds, monkeys and also hidden waterfalls where one can
(usually) swim and sun nude, as we did.
The Robertsons also took us to
another gorgeous national park, Tenorio, to see the waterfalls and pools of the
richly blue Rio Celeste, accessible by a fairly easy hike. Rio Celeste has hot
springs too, but we reached them on a weekend, when they were being used by
clothed local families. The Robertsons provide guided tours for a fee. We took
advantage of the nude beach adventure. It includes a fishing boat ride to a
small, hidden, beautiful sand beach in a cove on the Pacific. There we
snorkeled, ate fresh pineapple, drank beer, swam, sunned, and explored rocky
outcroppings. Janet and Don are committed and experienced nudists, excellent
conversationalists, enthusiastic hikers, knowledgeable locals, and warm and
friendly individuals. We recommend Toucans most highly for nudists who love
nature and the profusion of topographies, flora, and fauna that Costa Rica
uniquely has. |

Fantastic, amazing, spectacular! You even moved the clouds from
