Resort and Spa since the upgrades and renovations completed in
February 2002, we invite you to send in your trip report. |

Just returned from EDSS. WOW! This was my
first time to this resort and my first time to an all-inclusive. We are already
planning our next trip- hopefully in October. This resort was incredible - the
rooms, the food, the drinks and especially the staff. If you have read any
negative reviews discount them COMPLETELY!
If you need transportation
to/from the resort contact Lomas Travel for a private air-conditioned car which
costs approximately the same price as shared transfers. We had arrived,
checked-in and had a couple of drinks on the beach by the time others on our
flight arrived at the hotel. Lomas has a wonderful driver Luis Zamora (car
#110). We even hired him for a day to go to Tulum and then Playa Del Carmen
with shopping stops in between. Having him was like having a tour director on
board.
Snorkeling was terrific. You can walk out into the water and
see the fish. It was my boyfriends first time snorkeling and now he is
addicted.
There is so many wonderful things to say about this place
but just know that it is so awesome that I am determined to go back in October.
Five nights just was not enough. Cancun has gotten so crowded but here you get
to know others from all over the world. The beach is private so it is never
over-crowded PLUS adults-only allows you to enjoy the sound of the waves
crashing on the beach. Mmmmmm!
My # 1 tip: DON'T FORGET TO TIP. A
small amount of money to us is a huge amount to the workers. My favorite
souvenir is coming home and remembering the smiles and knowing that I made
someone's life a little easier. You will get good service regardless but I like
service with a smile.

After reading some of the negative online
comments about this resort I was a bit concerned about what we'd gotten into.
(Editors Note: The writers reference about negative
comments were some they had heard prior to the major overhaul of this
resort.) We were already signed up for the nude week and couldn't back
out. However our experience couldn't be further from those negative reviews.
When we arrived, the air conditioning in our room was on the fritz. It took a
while, but after my husband talked with the manager we were moved to a
different room. The next day a beautiful fruit basket appeared, compliments of
the manager, with an apology for the inconvenience.
When he learned
that we would be celebrating our wedding anniversary during the trip, he
arranged for us to have dinner again at the beautiful gourmet restaurant next
door at Hidden Beach (we'd already used our one meal at Hidden Beach earlier in
the week), along with a bucket of champagne in our room. A few days later, the
Jacuzzi on our balcony wouldn't drain and we called the front desk to report
it. After the staff unstopped it, the manager left another note, apologizing
again for the inconvenience along with a beautiful basket of bath salts,
candles, and incense to "make our Jacuzzi experience more enjoyable."
We commented to each other that we wondered what they'd do if something
really bad went wrong. I've never been treated so well at any resort. The beach
is a bit rocky, but we don't swim in the ocean so it was not a problem for us.
There were plenty of lounge chairs and big, fluffy towels for us to sunbathe,
the food was quite good considering they were cooking for a wide variety of
tastes, and there was plenty to drink -- alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Try the
"Conga" if you don't imbibe. It's a blended mixture of orange and pineapple
juice, half a banana, Grenadine and ice and it's quite tasty and refreshing.
The activities were fun, the staff a delight, and the surroundings were like
paradise. I'd go back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone -- nudist or
textile.

Although we travel extensively being employed in the airline
business, this is our first attempt at filing a trip report. While our trip to
the El Dorado involved some special circumstances, we were really suprised with
how we felt about this place. Having read some other reviews about this
property prior to visiting it we were not expecting anything great. However, we
both fell in love with the resort and can't wait to head back with the group in
May.
The property was much more extensive then we had anticipated and
had an ambience about it that just made us very comfortable and relaxed. While
some people may find the resort too spread out, we liked our strolls throughout
the grounds and found there was a certain openess to it that we enjoyed. Each
part of the resort offered something a little different. The buildings fit into
the setting very well and the place had a certain simplicity about it. The
rooms were very nicely done and we never encountered any maintenance problems
whatsoever. There were several dining options and while we won't say the food
was spectacular, we found it very good and pretty much what we were expecting.
The overall service we received was exceptional but we must comment on the
general manager who is someone that you will really enjoy meeting and made our
trip truly memorable.
Somethings to consider for someone visiting the
resort is which room options to choose. Since we are nudist, we would always
opt for the nude side of the resort unless you are planning on visiting one a
week when the entire resort goes nude. The new swimming pool and swim-up bar is
very nice in the nude section but the beach area is not really suitable for
swimming. There is a beautiful beach area on the southern non-nude section of
the resort that is more suitable for water sports. We don't really think any
room choice would be a bad one and really did not leave with a preference one
way or another.
As for activities, the week we were at the resort was
there was less energy and activities then what a place like Hedo offers but I
suspect that will be different during nude week. Regular weeks at the resort it
will probably be pretty much a function of who is there at the time, but I
suspect most people will find the resort on the quiet side. We are somewhat
into the club scene and unless there is a fun group at the resort it may be
best to head to Playa da Carmen which we were totally surprised with. What a
neat town!
We don't want to exceed our report limits but we certainly
can recommend this resort and are really excited about our return in May and
expect it will become a regular trip for us. Hope to see you
there.
