We recently stayed at El Dorado ROYALE near
the village of Puerto Morelos, just south of the Cancun airport about 20
minutes.
The focus of this report is on the gorgeous Casita guest
accommodations, decorated in a romantic palapa style setting. These casitas are
to die for....they're romantic, stylish and well appointed. Your choices range
from Casitas that are stand alone structures, to those with a swim up
suite/pool location to models with your very on private plunge pool and of
course, the Presidential Casitas, each with its own plunge pool, private
balcony and thatched room sun bed facing the beach.
Casita
accommodations shout one intimate feeling: ROMANCE! These lucious
accommodations are perfect for couples....for an anniversary celebration, a
marriage, a honeymoon or just a fun getaway.
The ROYALE resort is
actually divided into two sections: The original property with standard guest
rooms, suites and restaurants and the ROYALE Casitas property. The Casitas also
feature their own guest pools and bars adjacent to each of the 6 mini villages
that dot the beachside locations. What's more, each has its own Concierge,
convenientely available nearby each Casita.
Although all guests have
the choice of over 20 bars and restaurants, Casitas ROYALE have three
conveniently located dining options nearby including: La Isla Casita, Le
Italiane and the Asion specialty restaurant.

adventure, contact Julia or Alma at Fox Travel American Express and plan your

This was our second year visiting the
resort. I cannot say anything negative about this resort. Only wonderful
things. My husband and I are planning on visiting again next year for the third
year in a row. This is the most romantic place to spend your anniversary by
far! |

A generally nice resort, with some room for
improvement. Service as sometimes slow, food was okay. Even though this was an
all-inclusive, we found that tipping was appreciated, and service improved with
a few pesos. Little entertainment, but we were with a large group, and we
journeyed out frequently to Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, and Cancun. Relatively
remote location, and taxis/buses can get expensive. Missing some of the
amenities that were promised, like the mini-bar in the room (there was a
refrigerator with bottled water), the exercise facilities were lacking. Pools
were great. Weather was fantastic. When we return to this area, we would
probably try another resort, not an all-inclusive. Preferred Couples Negril,
Jamaica, all-inclusive. |

We just returned from a wonderful week at
the El Dorado Royale. The room was spacious and offered every possible amenity.
Jacuzzi was a real bonus. Staff very friendly and responded in good time to our
requests. The meals were excellent. All a la carte. Lobster was offered twice
and shrimp is available at all meals. Make sure you try all the restaurants,
just make your reservations the day before. Wait staff is sometimes slow and
forgetful but always eager to please. The resort offers a free bus trip to
Mayan Caves and this is quite interesting. Activity staff is working hard to
get people involved but this resort seems to be a laid back kind of
do-your-own-thing place. Snorkel equipment, bikes, tennis, and pottery painting
are available. They run some tours. Nightly entertainment is minimal.
The beach is rocky but snorkelling is great. Make sure you take water
shoes. A great choice for a quiet restful vacation. |

My wife and I recently went to the El
Dorado Royale. I must tell you, it was a great resort. I have heard a lot of
negative things about this resort (mostly on the net) but, it was great. The
food was pretty good although the service was sometimes slow. This was not due
to their lack of trying however. I often got up to get our drink refills simply
because the bar was right beside the main restaurant. In the big scheme of
things this was a minor problem.
The rooms were very nice with an
excellent hot tub (that of course we put to good use!) The TV was mostly filled
with movie channels, ESPN and Playboy! Used that too! The beaches were very
nice although the ocean was a bit difficult. By that I mean, it was very rocky
at the waters edge. Once you get about 20 or 30 feet in the water was perfect.
They had a great spa facility and my wife and I took the couples massage class.
It was about 40 minutes and our instructor was great. He was very friendly and
respectful.
Most of the guests seemed to be older (we are in our 30's.)
My wife was a bit uncomfortable going topless or in her thong because no one
else did. There were one or two women who went topless or wore thongs, but it
was few and far in between. The secluded area mentioned in the Castaways report
is not that great. The area itself was beautiful and would serve greatly for
any nude sunbathing, but as the sand met the grassy area it was VERY trashy.
Shoes, cans, diapers, bottles, etc. littered the area and thus made us wonder
if the locals came down there to fiesta. We certainly didnt want to get
caught with our pants down.
I got a little sick towards the end of the
trip, but I guess that's to be expected. Stay away from the water. They have
bottled water in the room |

My husband & I went here for our
honeymoon & it was great! Everything was just like it stated in the
brochure! The staff waas great, we were greeted with champagne at check in
& then taken to our beautiful casita. There are plenty pools, swim up bars
& swing bars:) the only thing we hated about our trip was having to come
home! We plan on returning very soon! |
