Trip Reports

Here are a few trip reports submitted by some of our clients.

R & M - June 2011
This year’s Quad Squad on the Move’s trip to Desire was spectacular. We want to thank you both, Castaways Travel and Marilyn and Gus for all the work that you did to make the trip special. We were very apprehensive about going to Desire. We loved Hedo 3 and Jamaica and considered booking a trip to Hedo 2 instead of traveling with the Hellians to Desire. We are glad we didn’t.

Desire is a beautiful resort. The food was excellent and staff is exceptional. They honestly seem to care about everyone and they go out of their way to please us. The beach was relaxing, the pool was great place to socialize during the day, the disco was comfortable and was rocking every night and the hot tub, well let just say what happens at the hot tub stays at the hot tub. However, what really makes the trip special are the people. We know the group has been traveling together for many years, but you made us and everyone else feel welcome and a part of the group.

In the two years that we have been traveling with the Hellians and booking with Castaways, we have made some wonderful friendships and would not dream of missing a trip. The staff works tirelessly to assure that all the details are taken care of so the we just have to show up and enjoy the trip. You both care about your customers and it shows. We cannot believe that you were even able to get the resort to open the pool at night. We booked our trip for next year with you before leaving the resort and we are already counting down the days.

Gary and Marie - March 2011
Desire is a place to meet new people from around the world and enjoy a friendships and/or more. It offers the best of weather, rooms, atmosphere and activities. There is always something happening and you are welcome to join in or observe.

K & D - Winter 2011
From start to finish the vacation was perfect. We were quite impressed by the private transfer at the airport. We were escorted to Desire in a brand new Lincoln Navagato (that's what they call them there.)

We always love going to Desire and actually met up with friends we had met the previous year at Hidden Beach. Now we are all planning a return trip to Desire this year sometime.

What we like about Desire.....We like the evening entertainment in the Melange Bar area. That is always a nice transition from dinner to the disco. We like the heated pool and the hot tub. The rooms are nice - although we are not in them that much. The disco is downright FUN. The restaurants are great. We like Suki the best of all. The staff is just the best and bend over backward to make you feel welcomed.

A recommendation for Desire....they need to do something like Hidden Beach does and have one evening where they host a Fiesta on the Melange Bar area, rather than going to the restaurants. Also changing up the disco theme nights would be nice. Maybe including a Burlesque night...hmmm.....

One thing we didn't care for that they've changed back was that we had to reserve our beach beds... .now they've changed it to first come - first serve.

As always, Castaways has been great to work with and we trust you completely.

pierrot333 - September 2010
We're holidays naturists and, in option to closing of HBR for this fall, we'd tried Desire Resort & spa to Cancun. Desire is not a 100% naturist resort and for 18+ only. Clothes req. in restaurants, lobby and opt. on beach, in pool area and in spa on top of building. Sensual athmosphere on this resort, particularly in the evening for night themes activities when ladies wear sexy lingeries. Desire knowed as lifestyle resort where swingers can meet some new friends. But, straight couples like us not bothered if they want only live unclothed. Those embarassed by overt sexual activities must avoid this resort. We can see that at some places like roof top spa, play room beside disco or some sexy games around main pool. Sexual activities however prohibited elsewhere... except in your room. Incredible feeling to rekindle your 'desire'. Guests from 30 to 65 during our stay. Excellent food & drinks, unlimited. Buffet rest. with varied menus everay day.

Two a'la carte rest. avalable (jap. & international) on reservation. All where excellent. Awesome smiling employees (lobby, bars, rest., animation). They'd made our stay unforgettable. Good shows every nights with some activities for guests (games, lingerie parade, masked/fancy dressed disco, etc...). Thanks to Christina, Diana & Brenda for dayly activities and your energy. Had a lot of fun with you. Dont miss 'eyes wide shut' night every wednesday to the disco.

Different types of rooms avalable. We had basic room garden view with narrow shower only. Room spacious, clean and confortable. Missing: sideboard for clothings (small wardrobe insufficient). Not enough palapas and pool chairs with umbrellas and having to reserve early every morning. The beach is very narrow and water hit the concrete wall in high tides. Watch rocks on beach and in the water. Some detritus & seaweed in the water but staff clean the beach everyday. The spa massage was very professional and enjoyable. Staff speaking english, spanish and french a bit. Guests speaking english and some french like us. It's easy to meet others english guests they were very friendly.

To resume: Nice resort with great food, drinks, and awesome staff, in a high sensual atmosphere. For people confortable with nudity and not afraid by some overt sexual activities in restricted areas. We wish return a.s.a.p.

D.K. - September 2010
My wife & I have been nudists for 25+ years, & were surprised by the 'clothing optional' description for Desire. The only clothing part is breakfast & dinner, and a towel/wrap for lunch. Therefore we took far too many clothes! The food & restaurant choices were wonderful. We are senior citizens & were expecting a younger clientele, but were pleasantly surprized to find mostly middle age guests. Staff members were very friendly & accommodating. We consider our vacation at Desire to be one of our best experiences& will consider returning in the future.

JM - June 2010
Just wanted to let you know that we had a great trip. Although we did not see much of the sun we met some wonderful folks and made the best of things. We have been on many trips and this is the first time that we had crappy weather so we cannot complain.

A few comments about this trip to Desire.....the food was excellent! I think that it is much better than our last trip although we were pleased with it then also. The chairs were not that big of an issue that everyone seems to make it out to be on the message boards. Everyone set out at the pool regardless if the sun was out or not. We loved the oceanview room upstairs. We spent a lot of time with our neighbors on the balcony drinking and watching the 20 foot waves crashing on the reef as the storm got closer.

Thank to all of you at Castaways for all of your help.

Temptors - May June 2010
What can we say? It was a fabulous week. We recently returned from Temptations In Desire '10 at Desire Resort in Cancun. We had a fantastic group of people join us for the best adult vacation we have ever had. The fun was non-stop and we are exhausted, but completely satisfied. The group enjoyed the gift baskets, Castaways Travel giveaways, t-shirts, 2 cocktail parties, the group dinners, the sexy gift exchange, lap game, the nude catamaran sail, evenings at the hot tub, and the wild parties with 'Don Julio' at the disco every night. This is all in addition to the events sponsored by the resort. We need a vacation from our vacation, was the best one we have ever had. The group was fantastic.

The staff at Castaways Travel made it all so easy. They took care of all the booking and were right there to answer all our questions. We loved it so much we are doing it again next year. May 28-June 4, 2011. So if you want that sexy, unihibited and/or wild vacation you have always dreamed of, with the perks of being part of a group, join us in 2011. All you have to do is contact Castaways Travel to get the ball rolling. Sincerely, Brenda and Rick Hosts of Temptations Adult Parties www.temptationsgroup.net

Ken & Peggy - May 2010 - Bubbly Bares Trip
Hello James and Champagne... We had a FABULOUS week at Desire Resort. It is a very relaxing yet charged and high energy atmosphere. They have really done a great job with all the different activities and the entertainment!!! This trip..the entertainment was terrific!!! Of course, being with all of our Bubbly Bare friends and guests make it so much more fun!! Our room service could have been scheduled at an earlier time, as the maid came around 4:00 or 5:00pm daily to clean our room. And that was a bad time for us as we would, or rather I would, need that time frame to get showered, dressed, and ready for the evening! Other than that, the staff is wonderful. This was our seventh (7th) trip there and there will definately be more to come. We love the place!!! Thanks also to Castaways for taking care of all the details of our trip. They make it easy to book! Ken and Peggy

K & A - January 2010
We made our first visit to Desire Cancun in mid-January 2010. We had been to Hedo II in January 2009 and had a wonderful time. Some friends recommended we try Desire this year and we were not disappointed.

Upon arrival at the Cancun airport after several hours of weather delays we were met with long lines of travelers waiting to clear Mexico customs. This process took a couple of hours and was not fun at all. Transportation to the resort was arranged through our travel agency and after the frustration of the airport lines the last thing we wanted to do is wait in more lines to board a small bus for a 25 minute ride to the resort. We should have spent the $30 or so and just taken a taxi to the resort. We need to remember this next time: don’t waste time on buses.

Desire resort is located about 15 miles south of the Cancun airport right on the coast. The resort is very clean and well maintained, and in better condition than Hedo II. Our room had an ocean view and also was clean and in good condition, but we only had a queen size bed and the room was somewhat on the small size. We stayed in this room for three nights and then requested an upgrade. After visiting the first and second floor passion suites we opted to transfer to a second floor suite in building 11. Wow, this room was absolutely fabulous! Spacious, luxurious, king size bed, Jacuzzi tub, big balcony with a wonderful ocean view. The passion suites have butlers assigned to assist guests and our butlers, Gustavo and Rafael, arranged for whatever we wanted. The ocean view room at Desire was in better condition, although a little smaller, than the ocean view room we had at Hedo II (which was right next to the nude side Jacuzzi), and the passion suite was much, much nicer. Hedo II was less expensive than Desire, particularly after we upgraded to the passion suite.

Our passion suite was next to the pool and we spent the remaining 5 days sunning and swimming in the pool. The water temperature in the pool was fine - generally we both like water that is on the warmer side - and the daily activities around the pool area were entertaining.

The roof top Jacuzzi hot tub was undergoing repairs for several days during our visit. The resort opened a couple of Jacuzzi suites for all guests to use these hot tubs while the repairs were being made. The roof top Jacuzzi was a lot of fun, both when it was busy and when it was not.

All of the food that we tried at Desire was great. We sampled a number of things at each meal and have no complaints at all about any of the meals, the food selection, or any of the liquor at the resort. We primarily ate at the buffet for dinner and the pool bar/restaurant for lunch. We looked forward to all of the meals. I think we each put on several pounds during our visit. We both liked the meals and Jamaican food at Hedo II. One thing we noticed last year at Hedo II was that some food on the buffet line would be gone before we arrived and not replenished. We never saw this at Desire ... there was always plenty of food when we were there. Overall, we think the food and service at Desire was better than Hedo II.

All of the staff at Desire, including bartenders, waiters, and spa help, were very friendly, had wonderful attitudes, and we have absolutely no complaints at all about service. We both thought that the staff at Desire was better than Hedo II.

We both liked the beach at Hedo II more than Desire. The Hedo II beach is cozy and the water wonderful for just floating and relaxing. The nude side pool at Hedo II was always too cold for us to use - we had no such problem at Desire. We never used any of the pools at Hedo II.

We noticed that many guests at Desire remained in clothes or swim suits except at the pool, beach and roof top Jacuzzi. We both liked the more widespread nudity on the ‘nude side’ at Hedo II. Perhaps this was just the group that was at Desire when we were there. The women, much more so than the men, were partially clothed or in sexy attire during evening activities and in the club at night.

Hedo II had a more sexual edge, with PDA in multiple places, whereas Desire was more sensual, erotic, with PDA confined primarily to the roof top Jacuzzi area. We both liked the sexual edge at Hedo II more than Desire.

We will be happy to return to either resort. Our plan now is to make the next trip during the spring or summer with one of the groups and see what its like.

Texas 2 Stepper - Dec 2009
Our trip to Desire Cancun went well from the very start. There were no issues with getting through the airport. We were worried about being harrassed at the airport but we had no issues. In fact, no one hit us up about time shares during the whole week in Cancun. The transport was great. It was through Lomas Travel (provided by Castaways Travel on a complimentary basis). The check-in process went well and our room was fantastic along with the food and service. The activities around the pool area were good. We met a lot of great people. Happy hour at the roof top hot tub was good with a lot of people participating. The nightly shows were good but the theme nights were poor when you compare them to H2. The Eyes Wide Shut night was not worth going to. There is one definite thing that people should do and it is to eat the midnight pizza at the main bar. Three of us couples went into Playa del Carmen one day. The taxi trip was expensive. It was $160 for the round trip. We would not hesitate on going back to this resort.

Skip - July 2009
This place ROCKS! This was our 3rd trip in 3 years and I promise you, you get what you pay for. We were able to enjoy the fun & excitement of Desire for 4 days, then traveled down the Coast to Cozumel for some scuba diving for 3 days , then return to Desire for the last 3 days of our trip. The management, was so helpful in our arrangements, the staff ..the best.. Not sure if everyone smiles so much because they are happy, or that my wife walking around nude lights up everyone face!! We will be going back every year for ever!. just love it. Thank you for letting us live our dreams! Skip

Tango with TANGO in PARADISE group - July 2009
Desire has become the resort of preference for this group, we have made it out summer destination for the last 3 years and will return again for 2010 in full force. They have always been more than accommodating of our group which is, to say the least a stretch for the rules of a nude facility. Mia (Guest Relations) is a doll. She is by far the best move they've made at Desire. She handled anything we wished with smile and we responded with anything she needed.

The staff at desire loves us and we love them. We are now mostly on a first name basis and they know us as a group. The food is always top notch, courtesy and friendliness very good, facility is clean, well maintained and very few maintenance problems. One suggestion made by Tigger (a female in our group) is that we really missed Diana....a female in the pool entertainment group. We felt that a female or 2 added to the pool entertainment which added to the involvement of the crowd and to the fun overall. This group has traveled together for 10 years and this place ranks #1 so far.

Dr & Cd - July 2009
3rd trip, service better than ever. Sooo relaxing. Do not think you have to be a swinger here. Some are, some are not. But if romance, quality, location and absoulute sensual times rock your boat GO!! A fantastic resort in a magical location! Definitely recommend!

Scott - June 2009
We enjoyed the resort and have already made plans to return next year. They have plenty for everyone to do all day or like us do nothing at all but relax and be naked. We were prepared for the "No" on time share sales at the resort but had no idea about all the ones at the airport as you are exiting the building.

We tried out every restaurant and food nights. We were a little disappointed with the food if there was anything we didn't like. We were told how good it was, but have been to other resorts and the quality and varied much better elsewhere. We didn't starve though. Just no snack food for late night hot tub fun. Disco needs to update their music and the lounge bar acts were ok. We enjoyed the hot tub hot area every night before and after dinner. The beach was never crowded and we spent every day there instead of pool area. It seemed like the clothed people had the pool area most of the day and the nudies enjoyed the beach. Not a problem for us. Would go again and have already booked for next year. Looking for people to join the group and come enjoy the fun. People were from all over, but the groups that were there seemed to be from midwest. Good mixture of age and areas of U.S., but a few Canadians and a few Germans. Good crowd all together.

PhilDog15 - March 2009
After reading a ton (and I do mean that) of reviews about Desire Resort at Cancun and getting such conflicting information, we promised ourselves that we would write a review about our stay at the resort as soon as we returned home. I want to start out by saying that we had a fabulous time on our vacation; it was amazing and definitely exceeded our expectations. We are a "lifesylte" couple so we were looking for a resort that offered us a relaxing vacation with a lifestyle option. We seriously considered Hedonism but I (the female whenever you see "I" from here on out, it is me) was concerned about the food, cleanliness and overall atmosphere of those properties. We started searching the Internet and I found Castaways Travel which offered us some different options. I am a big fan of the Riviera Maya area and loved the website and thought it seemed like a great place for our first lifestyle vacation. Jennifer at Castaways Travel is just amazing, she helped us so much.

Wow where do we begin! We have such an amazing time at Desire Resort that we always want to return as soon as possible. We always tell the staff that this is like our second home, that is how comfortable they always make you feel. The accommodations always exceed our wants & needs, we are always treated like A-list celebrities. Food is outstanding, the resort is impeccably cleaned everyday. Where else can you go 'be naked' and get the best of both worlds! Once you go you'll always go back.

We had an even better time this year, and your staff helped to make sure of that. Here are a few pictures of us from the trip.

A.C. - December 2008
We really enjoyed Desire, the property was beautiful and the service was excellent, all of the staff went above and beyond to provide us with what ever we needed. Africa new exactly when to bring us a fresh drink on the beach throughout our stay. It was great. The food was wonderful especially enjoyed the sushi, the only thing I didn't like about the food was its supposed to be all inclusive but if you wanted a great steak or lobster it was served at an extra charge so kind of misleading about that. Other than that, the resort is great, we are not swingers, just enjoy being nude and Desire was great for that. We are not late night people but stayed up late one night and went to disco, not much going on there so enjoyed the late night pizza which was great. We really enjoyed the couples massage it was much more than we expected. We will probably explore some other places but would definitely come back.

Thanks for your great web site on all the great places to see and what to expect, We will definitely use Castaways Travel next year.thanks

Jenny - December 2008
We've visited Desire several times in Cancun and once in Los Cabos. We've been happy with our trips each time. This time was the exception. We were pressured upon check in to attend a time share presentation which we agreed to attend. Upon attending this, they put an enormous amount of pressure on us to purchase - kept us there about 2 hours and told us we couldn't leave the room until the Supervisor signed off on our saying no. Our recommendation is that you don't sign up for this unless you want to be highly pressured. We may never go back to Desire because of this.

T.O. - November 2008
We had a wonderful time at Desire. It was better than I’d thought it would be. We were just delighted with what we found, the place, the staff, the guests etc. Having said that, there are a couple of things that come to mind that I thought you might pass on to them. Many people, including my wife, were quite perturbed about the heavy handed sales pitch for the RCI time share program. It was a potential downer be confronted by this within minutes of our arrival. Several people mentioned it.

The disco and the playroom just aren’t up to the general standard of the rest of the resort. They’re hot, cramped and a bit gloomy. It would be simple to uplift the whole area, and I think it would make a huge difference. The same sentiment goes for the little computer room off of the lobby. The computers were old, and the room was cramped, poorly laid out and just not cared for. This too would be dead easy to improve with little effort, or expense.

Laurie July 2008
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Desire-Cancun.

The resort was immaculate, the food was very good, the service everywhere was excellent especially the waiters. We have been to Jamaica 3 times in the past, and will definitely not be returning there.

Everything at Desire is much better than Jamaica. The people were much more friendly in Mexico and the atmosphere more upbeat and definitely more sexually charged!

There were a couple of incidents in the jacuzzi which should have taken place in bed, so we decided not to hop in.

"Theme Nights" were fun, and we dressed up for a couple of those. Had clothes for every night, but decided we didn't want to spend every night in the disco, it was a bit crowded and sometimes pretty warm.

The couples sensual massage was unbelievable! The "happy ending" seemed to go on and on, which is unusual for me. It was well worth the $260 + tip!

The only complaint we have is that they ask you to have breakfast with a representative to show you around and fill you in on their "frequent user" program, which after spending 30 minutes with the girl, turned out to be a timeshare. Definitely not interested in putting up $10,000-$40,000 for that!

When we respecfully declined, she called someone else over to explain things better (like we were stupid). We fully understood the program and were simply not interested. We enjoyed being nude for the 5 days we were there, and defnitely will schedule our next vacation to Desire for at least a 7 night stay.

B & L May April 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our 1st visit to Desire Riviera Maya. We found that it exceeded our expectations. The resort is kept spotless, the rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The staff is hard working, very friendly and the service is impeccable.

The quality and choice of the food at all the restaurants is well above average. The quality of the drinks as well as the bar service is excellent. The overall atmosphere at the resort is sensual and not raunchy. While daytime is quieter, there are many games to participate in by the entertainment staff. Many people spend the day relaxing on the beach beds or comfortable lounges around the pool. It doesn't have the energy of the Hedonism Resorts but there is plenty of opportunity to socialize in the pool, hot tub and at the many bars on property, where there never seems to be a wait to get served.

At night, after dinner & before disco, there is nice entertainment at the lobby bar. Comfortable couches & beds are available for relaxing, socializing and listening to the music under the stars. The Disco is fun. There is a contest each night, good dance music, 3 Poles to play on, and plenty of seating.

In a nutshell, yes it is possible to combine nudity, sensuality and 1st class treatment...and its called Desire!

A & K - March 2008
We had a relaxing vacation for the most part. All of the employees of Desire Cancun were very nice with one exception. The young man running tours out of the towel desk drew our ire. I think he must work for the tour providers rather than the Hotel.

We liked the facilities there and the layout of Desire. The drinks were OK, but they had no idea of what a Humming Bird drink is and many others found at the Hedos in Jamaica. The beach was fantastic. The beds on the beach had to be reserved, but we didn't have a problem getting one every day. The pool was not used much. The reason is that it is 5 feet deep all around except for the separate "baby" pool which was maybe 2 feet deep. So, most of the daily activities took place around the pool or on the beach. (No water volley ball, but they had sand beach volley ball). No swim up bar in the pool, but you didn't have to walk too far to get a decent drink. There was a bar on the beach open till about 4 pm. By 5 pm most of the beach was empty. We had to wear a band on either our wrist or ankle to identify us as a guest of the hotel (all you can eat and drink). The reason for this was that it is a public beach. People from other resorts walked on the beach in front of Desire. The hot tub on the roof (many steps) was nice and that seems to be the place where all the adult activity happens. It does have a bar accessible from the hot tub.

Our room was very nice. One bad thing about our room was mosquitoes. We kept getting bitten in the room. I had to swat mosquitoes every day even though I saw them fogging the shrubs outside of the villas a few times while we were there. The evening entertainment ranged from good to adequate. The young woman at the front desk was very nice. Her name was Renata. One of the evenings we saw her done up in body paint and my wife said she wanted to do it, too. So, she took off her top and let the artist paint her. He was really good. It was a pretty good vacation, but the wife prefers Jamaica.

SJ - March 2008
This would have been our second trip to Desire. We were only able to spend one night as we had a death in the family and we had to return home. We did eat at the Japanese restaurant and it was excellent as it had been last year. We hope to go back next year to both places.

A&J December 2007
I had doubts about this place before we went, not sure that it would be our cup of tea.

James & I had been to a lot of nude beaches and resorts like Grand Lido Braco and Negril, but never to any place with a strong "lifestyle" type of setup.

However, when we got there we found that most everybody was very friendly and accepted us just the way we were.

Having been to some very fine resorts in the past, I wasn't expecting much in the way of rooms, food and the resort in general. While Desire is no Grand Lido, we were very pleased with what it was. The atmosphere was perfect for a smaller resort, the food more than adequate (despite the Italian being closed) and rooms were EXCELLENT.

I'm sure that I surprised James quite a bit as I "loosened" up a lot more than I ever thought possible during the week. Let's just say that we experienced some "activities" that we hadn't before, and built a few new very intimate relationships. Our new motto is (to borrow a phrase), "What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico"

We're already planning a return trip next Winter, and it can't get here fast enough.

K & S December 2007
A report of our trip to Desire December 1 thru 9, 2007

Upon arrival it was easy to find our connections to Desire from the airport. The directions you supplied were super. Everything went very smoothly. We got in early, before the rooms were ready, but they were ready for us anyway with a cold towel and a glass of champaign.

The resort was beautiful and really came back from the hurricane and looks better than ever. There are more palapas and the beach looks more crowded than before, but Memo had no trouble getting drinks to everyone in a timely fashion.

Theme nights were fun, but not enough guys participating. Need more guys to participate to make it more fun. The playroom did have its busy times also and it is more enjoyable with that many people involved.

The hot tub temperature seems to vary too much, and it still was a full crowd most of the time, but the beds had too many people sleeping on them too much of the time, but people got around those small problems.

The ONLY real negative we could find is that the Italian reataurant was never open the entire week, it was also like that the last time we were there. Please go back to the Mexican reataurant theme and keep it open. The International reataurant was outstanding as usual with the service top notch.

All in all a great week and we will be back.

RS - November 2007
We were first timers to this type of resort and really had no idea what to expect. We originally booked only 4 days at Desire and an additional 2 days at another property just in case we were not comfortable at Desire. We cancelled our 2 days at the other place and extended at Desire.

WOW!

While we are not “lifestylers” we really enjoyed the openness and found the hot tub area very exciting. We met some very fun couples and enjoyed dining and taking a day trip together.

We never once felt uncomfortable. The staff was very attentive. The grounds were always neat and clean and our room was quite adequate. We had read other comments that said the rooms were unimportant as most people spent little time in them. I would agree that we were seldom in our room but it was not because the room was in any way substandard. We just enjoyed being outside on the beds or in the pool.

We ate all but one meal at Desire and only one of those meals was a disappointment. We misunderstood the menu at Suki’s and thought the only full meal service was available at the hibachi grill. Our meal there was somewhat dis-jointed as the chef was trying to cover two grills at one time and he was really having to shuttle between the kitchen two grills at once. The service and food suffered as a result. We later learned a full menu is offered at the non-grill tables as well and many folks told us they had very good meals there. Breakfast was good with a generous selection of items. Lunch was good as well with enough variation each day to offer something different every day. Dinner was filling and I never felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth.

We visited the disco on a couple of occasions but we had not fully understood the “theme” concept. Now that we have seen it, we will pack clothing that is more appropriate on our next visit. Speaking of packing we took way more clothing than we needed. I found that I needed a single pair of shorts to wear to and from the pool and for lunch. Otherwise I was naked all day. My wife was the same way. She used a cover up to go to and from and at lunch and that was about it. I wore slacks and a polo shirt for dinner and my wife wore a dress. As the days went on she realized she should have packed “short, short” dresses but we‘ll know better next time.

We did a couples massage but I later learned they have a “couples” massage that is very much different than the one we had. Once again we were new and had to listen and watch others to learn what lots of repeat visitors already knew. I saw signs cautioning about “sexual” displays and again being new we were pretty timid during our first visit to the hot tub. Once we figured out that the sex police don’t jump out and say “stop that” we had lots of fun. It took seeing another couple having sex on the bench at the fire pits behind the hot tub to convince us that we too could play.

My wife was originally neutral about our trip mostly because neither one of us could quite picture what we were about to get into. We both worried that we would be embarrassed if someone made advances to one or both of us because we were not planning on “sharing”. By the second day my wife was saying how much fun she was having and how comfortable she was. We talked to couples who were there to “share” and while our plans did not change we at least understood the attraction. We both decided that we had some of the hottest sex we have ever had while at Desire.

We enjoyed ourselves immensely and met some folks we are already planning to meet at Desire Cancun.

Anon - August 2007
Desire (Cancun) August 2007 was even better than we expected and we expected a lot based on friends' experiences. The Staff was excellent: very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed all the restaurants and all the food-it was served in a timely manner with no feeling of being rushed during our dining events and it was always delicious. The international restaurant was freezing cold (an air conditioning malfunction?) which prevented us from returning there during our stay as we had not packed warm enough sweaters and wearing a table cloth as some had to do was not an option we chose. Hopefully that has been corrected by now.

The rooms are beautiful as is the whole resort and we look forward to returning without any hesitation. We enjoyed the evening entertainment which was first class but did not care for the "disco" as the music was too loud and of the hip-hop genre. This is a place we would recommend as a great honeymoon destination as we found it to be a very romantic setting and yet travelling there with a group of friends is just as fun.

John & Lin - June 2007
This was out third trip to Desire but first since it was rebuilt after the hurricane. The resort did an incredible job not only restoring its original beauty - they made it better!

Cancun airport has seriously improved over the past four years. Getting into the airport, through customs, and into our transportation was faster than it ever was. Our ocean front suite was ready on arrival. The palapas on the beach are a perfect compliment and a terrific place to nap when the sun goes down. Service was as it has always been - first rate. The food in all three restaurants was very good. The one complaint we have is the absence of Mexican food. We prefer to eat Mexican food when in Mexico. The other complaint is lunch. It's very hot in June and it would be nice to be able to have lunch inside. Besides, there simply is insufficient seating at the grill at lunchtime. Oh, one more criticism and I'm working hard to find any - tequila. One would expect a Mexican resort to offer a variety of fine tequila. Desire does not. So, the quality of the mnargarita is below what it should be.

We absolutely enjoyed our vacation and will return to Desire. What a terrific place to spend a week!

Thanks James and gang.

TC - January 2007
For the second time in the past 3 years, my wife & I visited Desire Resort and Hidden Beach Resort on the same trip booked thru Castaways Travel. Both are very fine resorts but we have concluded that we prefer Desire over Hidden Beach.

We are not swingers but have found we are still very comfortable at Desire and enjoy the "upscale" atmosphere and ambiance. We enjoy our personal, quiet times there as well as the more wild & crazy times. For those who are concerned, a polite "no thanks" is very well accepted. Desire has more choices of restaurants right at the resort as opposed to Hidden Beach which has one and you must take a short walk to the El Dorado resort next door for more variety. Clothing is required in the restaurants at Desire and, of course, at El Dorado but reservations were required at all of the restaurants at El Dorado and were not necessary at Desire. Desire has some great bars, including the infamous roof-top jacuzzi bar and the lobby bar that is open 24 hours.

We believe that Hidden Beach, with its much more laid-back ambiance and its adherence to nudist principles, would do well to have a bar, other than the pool bar, where people could gather around and be sociable at night. The upstairs disco bar just doesn't cut it for socializing. Several times, we were the only ones up there. People seem to retire early there. Service was excellant at both places and and the rooms at Hidden Beach are slightly better than at Desire.

We have concluded, considering the substantial cost difference, that we will just stay at Desire for the full time on our next trip. For the record, we are 60ish. T & C

Leon & Alice - September 2006
My wife and I went to Desire for our 7th anniversary back in September 2006. We have been to several other more expensive resorts and are convinced that Desire is the best bargain anywhere w/i Mexico or the Caribbean. We stayed for 7 days and loved every minute of it. The resort was spotless, the staff was friendly and attentive, the food was incredible, and best of all, the other guests were great.

We started off the first few days just relaxing with each other. We usually went to the beach in the morning then hit the pool area in the afternoons. My wife who never played volleyball one day I her life looked forward to the daily nude volleyball games down on the beach. The staff kind of talked her into the first game on the first day and she had so much fun, she looked forward to it everyday.

We are early risers (3 young children!) and usually ate early and went to the pool and the beach befreo it got crowded. We took a lot of pictures in those early morning hours. They have this surreal earth music playing at the pool and o the beach in the early hours that was just prefect for walking down the beach or swimming in the pool. It was the most relaxed I have been in years.

One word of caution: if you are like us and do not drink a lot, STAY AWAY from the Tequila Volleyball games in the pool. I joined in one day, thinking it would be fun. The rule is that if you mess up or lose a point, the staff squirts a tequila shot into your mouth from a sports bottle. So I am a nice guy and tried to help the beautiful nude woman who were on my team as much as possible. If they screwed up I tried hard to save them but usually ended up making the final tap that earned the other team a point. We laughed so hard and had such a good time playing. After about 20 minutes and 15 or so errors, I was pretty blitzed. The game ended up about an hour later; me drunk for the first time in 10 years. The staff there was squeezing that that squirt bottle pretty hard when they aimed into my mouth. Needless to say, we did not hit the disco that night as I crashed early.

The entertainment/recreation staff was great. They were polite, and never pushy. The service at Desire was perfect; always smiling, always quick, always correct and super-friendly.

We snorkeled a lot off the beach, went on the Hobie -Cat several mornings. We saw several public display of affections but expected more. It was not the wild orgy we had read about and for us, that was fine. We are more nudists then hedonists but do not mind watching what others do. (Boy that sounds dirty!) We can watch and have fun!

At about 5PM everyday, everybody at the resort goes to either their rooms or the roof top Jacuzzi. AT 5PM, the pool is deserted! We went up to the Jacuzzi every afternoon for drinks and socializing. Zit was a lot of fun up there. We usually went to dinner at 6PM; again the restaurants were deserted at that time. The dinners were great, cannot say enough about them.

The disco has different themes every night and is a lot of fun. We visited the playroom several times but there was not a loot of activity there whenever we checked. There is an interesting mix of people at Desire and the crowd seems a little younger then other resorts we have been to. I would say the median age when we were there in September was 40-45. There were maybe a dozen 20 something as well as a dozen seniors. Everybody though seems friendly and outgoing. Great crowd.

We rented a car one day and drove to Tulum and went to Gran Cenote. Paid $30 for the car for the day. (We used the phone book for the rental; they wanted $55 through guest services.)

Its pretty much a perfect resort. My wife usually does not like to go to the same place twice since there are so many places to go, but we will go back to Desire.

Leon & Alice - September 2006
From our first visit, Desire has changed a lot. It is advertised as a Lifestyle Nudist Resort, but more and more clothed (textile) guests are showing up. Percentage was about 50% for our week in September 2006. Some were overheard saying "it's gross, tacky", etc... etc...

Lots of first timers or wannabees there. But not lifestylers. We will most likely not go back there again. Insted we would rather go to Hedo 2 in Jamaica. We have been there 17 times now and have never been disapointed. Nude side or prude side... they are seperate and if you don't like getting naked on the nude side... you are asked to leave.

This is our opinion only... but you asked. We feel that Desire lured people there from Hedo by making it sound better (and it was the first few trips like Hedo) bit it's not anymore.

Editors note: As you see... we post all comments positive and negative. This visitors experience reinforces our mantra "know before you go". To get the best out of Desire resort (or any resort for that matter) TALK to us. Most often we can steer you to special weeks, groups or destinations that will fit your needs.

B & D - May 2006
We met a lot of fun people during the week, so we really didn't hook up with a specific group. The weather while we were there was absolutely perfect, sunny and 90 everyday with a nice breeze.

As far as the New Desire is concerned, we liked the new lobby area. They had a band or some form of entertainment there every night before the disco opened which was really nice. In the pool area, trees have been replaced but with very small trees, so the umbrellas are taken pretty early. Not an issue (for us) but that seemed to be a complaint. The food was pretty good, but still seemed to run out of choices in a week's time. The late night pizza was an addition since the last time we were there and that was great to have after leaving the disco.

The one complaint I had about the room was the odor from the mattress. It had a somewhat musty smell. It wasn't until late in the week that we examined it and saw that there was a watermark on the bottom. It looked like it had been stood up and that there was an inch or two of water in the room previously. I guess my question would be, did they replace the mattresses and air conditioning units in the rooms? I have had laryngitis for over 6 weeks, I got it about mid-week while I was down there. I have had antibiotics and other medications and I am just now getting over it. Some other of our friends were there a couple of weeks ago. They said they and two other couples experienced breathing problems but taking claritin cleared it up for them. Neither us or our friends complained to Solvina, but I did put it on the comment card. No one from the resort contacted us about it.

Lisa & Ron - June 2005
DESIRE is a First class experience from the food to the service to the accomodations and relaxed atmosphere. There were plenty of "adult" activities, but all was tastefully presented and indulged in by anyone willing to experience them. We highly recommend this resort to couples who like to have fun in a classier upscale laid back environment. Food and beverages were plentiful and professionally presented, Service was superb! We never had an empty hand. The music was diverse and tasteful, you could actually carry on conversations with your "neighbors". As is true at most places like this, you could do as much as you wanted without feeling undue pressure from anyone. It is rated by us as a MUST Return visit!

Harper M - June 2005
We had not traveled to Desire previously, and had avoided the Hedo resorts, concerned that they would be too much of a 'frat party' scene.

Desire met all of our expectations. All of the services - Food & Bar, Room, Front Desk, Water Sports and the entertainment staff - were professionally executed. The food was solid - not fancy or gourmet, but certainly adequate in all respects. I got a good look at the kitchen, and was actually impressed with how clean and orderly it appeared. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the air conditioning in our room and it was attended to very quickly. We had a 'garden view' room - small and simple, but very clean. The shower did spray the whole bath but it wasn't really a problem

It is a compact resort - the rooms are packed together on the beach. There are a few places to find a quiet corner away form the crowd if you wanted. We knew a Scuba operation in Pureto Morales that we wanted to dive with, and rented a car at the airport to get around. While the resort didn't seem to expect you to drive in, it worked out very well for us.

It's hard to describe the 'vibe' of the place. We were impressed that the 'entertainment' staff at poolside and the disco managed to dance the fine line between encouraging participation without being obnoxious if there just wasn't interest. We didn't want to participate, and found a quiet corner to enjoy. We were handed a note when we registered with some statement about prohibiting explicit activity in 'public. I'd guess it's an attempt to keep all it in the playroom behind the disco. It's clear the resort guests prefer the hot tub & surrounding beds. We ran into at least one couple that did not expect the public 'adult' activities - they were surprised and debated leaving, but later they seemed to have decided to stay at least for a while. The 'vibe' was like that - a mild encouragement, but certainly no pressure. As for the mix of couples, it was a very wide variety of interests, ages, and predispositions.

There was no single large group in the resort at our visit. I would be wary of visiting if the resort had been taken over by a large group that I was not involved with - I would be concerned that I would not be part of the group - not a reflection on the resort.

We will return to Desire without heistation.

MS - May 2005
If a 5 star hotel with snobby bus boys and crème brulee is what you are after, go somewhere else. If good food (and lots of it), great facility, fabulous staff, and wild encounters are not your thing, you needn’t waste your time and money going to Desire Resort in Cancun.

If, on the other hand, you love the eclectic in “live” erotica and the fun of being naughty kids again, this is THE one place you absolutely must experience.

Frankly, we were a little anxious when we arrived because we didn't know what to expect. Desire is marketed as a "Lifestyles" resort. My wife and I are not swingers but we found out you don’t have to be to enjoy Desire and nobody is pushy. In fact, we met many couples like us who just enjoy the sexy atmosphere that oozes from every inch of Desire. So go with your lover and just let it be without judging, gawking (o.k.that may be tough), or being shocked at the lavish lovin’ you will experience.

The rooms are adequately appointed--some larger than others, some with better or worse showers, blah, blah, blah, but who gives a flying flip about that? You won't be sleeping all that much anyway!

Desire is a laid back, relaxed, wild, crazy, sleepy, exciting food, fun and f—k fest you must experience at least once in your life!

So get off the fence, get on the phone, and get your booty booked! I promise, this oasis in the Mexican Rivera will satisfy your every desire! M.S. Nashville, Tennessee

Gary & Karen - March 2005
Karen and I were at Desire on March 20th 2005. Putting it in simple to understand words "it was awesome". If you wanted us to find something negative it would be the trip director booked us a diving trip for Tuesday at 12:30 and never told us the port was closed due to wind and it was cancelled. We found this out about 12:00 and it was too late to do anything else that day. Oh well. On the flip side, the resort is beautiful , the food far better then I ever expected, the staff unbelievable and the guest were great, all seeming to have lots of fun day and night.

Alisa - January 2005
Desire and Hedonism II are two entirely different experiences. Both have pluses and minuses. Where Hedo is (or actually was until recently) a "camp for adults", party 24/7, Desire is relaxing, luxurious, romantic, sexy fun with your friends. Overall, Desire is MUCH better value for your money. Hedo is a good place to go on your own, although you can also come with friends. Desire is a good place to go with a group or for a takeover....

Bob & Cyn - October 2003
Cyndi and I just got back from 4 nights at Desire in Cancun. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was very attractive...but ours and many others leaked a little water when it rained.

The entrance is constantly flooded so that taxis have to go through very high water to enter.

The food was below average for an all-inclusive club. Cyndi ate mostly bread the whole weekend. A lot of it was items we didn't recognize, or were afraid to eat as we were unsure about the milk and other strange and unusual things on the buffet.

The night time entertainment was very slow and the disco was shut down two of the nights due to rain leaking in the roof on the electrical equipment. Although it was suppose to be a swing hotel...we saw no evidence of any swinging taking place. People generally were quiet and stayed to themselves. There were about 15 to 20 couples there.

The beach was beautiful and the gardens were gorgeous. The pools were beautiful and the drinks were good. The staff was generally non-responsive. We called two times, for another pillow and another suitcase rack holder.....they never came. One server, trying to be funny, dropped a plastic roach down my wife's boobs while she was concentrating on a game of scrabble. There are a lot of big crabs there, and iguanas, plus she has a serious bug phobia and literally almost had a heart attack trying to get that off her. Later he was very apologetic....but it was clearly inappropriate....and when I asked her her best and worst part of the trip (later)....that was the worst for her, and me.

Taxis are very expensive there but it is the only way to get anywhere. Every trip will cost about $30 each way. Rental cars are $80 a day. Going through the airport there is a nightmare....as the traveler is accosted by sales people all trying to sell something. Land transfers are not included to Desire....so the visitor must deal with taxi or shuttle people and we felt like fresh meat being thrown to the wolves. At one point we had 5 people all talking at us at once. Beware of official looking people in the airport with badges and ties....trying to lock you into timeshare visits. They'll tell you it is not a timeshare....but it amounts to the same thing. The Moon Palace is the worst about pushing this. We visited Xcaret....a fabulous(water)park there and floated down the underground river. An awesome experience and we highly recommend it. Again....very expensive both for the tickets ($50 each) and the ride out there ($50 each way).

We also went to Carlos and Charlie's bar in Cancun and had a great time. Senior Frog's bar was also good....but C + C's was more lively. Go around 10 PM.

All in all...we had a great time. We made our own fun.... If we had relied on staying at Desire and doing the nightlife there....we, like another couple there, might have gone to bed at 8 PM. For the same money.....Hedo II is probably the better way to go at this time.

Cancun is a beautiful city. We would return but probably not go to Desire unless we got a really good deal. Desire, may eventually come into its own. But....it's not happening there yet.
