Mi Amor-Bed, Breakfast and Beyond is a small motel, located
on about 10 acres in a complex approximately 2 hours east northeast of the
capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose, on the highway to Limon, the country's
major Caribbean/Atlantic port.
The property is for adult couples and
singles in a clothing-optional environment.
Cindy & Buddy Booker from the Tampa area bought the 25 room property in
2008 for both nude use and those clients who visit Hedonism and Desire. There's
a mix of guests from the world over in addition to locals from San Jose who may
party there on the weekends. The U-shaped motel is enclosed so you have some
privacy within the walls for nude or clothing optional use around the pool and
hot tub.
The property is small, compact and boasts a couple of pools, a
small bar and dance floor and a separate, full service open air restaurant with
good local dishes. Weekends finds more activity than during the week unless a
group is in house. Mi Amor is clean, well maintained and serves as a base to
enjoy your eco-adventure in Costa Rica's rain forest and jungle nearby.
You may meet a nice group of U.S ex-pats who have moved to Costa Rica
to live, for investment or to work. We met many during our visits to Costa
Rica, the top rated country in Central American, hands down. In the 40s and 50s
when banana republics came and went with guns and bullets, Costa Rica invested
in its citizens and education: Currently, Costa Rica boasts of about a 95%
literacy rate among its citizens.

Fly into San Jose from numerous gateway cities world wide.
Several major airlines service the country including Continental, Copa, US Air,
Delta, American and others.
Cindy can pick you up, arrange transfers
or you can rent a car at the San Jose airport. The highways are excellent
throughout Costa Rica.
Local color: Local police in every village you
pass through are always eager to ticket foreigners for a shake down and $20
bucks. Believe me, it's happened to us and if you pretend you don't know the
language. You may be better off just loading your wallet or purse with some $1
bills and keep your larger currency elsewhere. Give him what have and be on
your way.

Mi Amor offers a Bed & Breakfast plan as well as an
all-inclusive offering including meals & drinks. The detached restaurant
adjacent to the property serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks
including soda, beer and liquor. You can buy duty fee liquor at the airport and
nearby as well.
All rooms include air
conditioning, hair dryers, satellite TV, clock radio, bed and bath with shower.
Two pools are on site....one for sunning and enjoying the hot tub and
the other is suitable for laps or water volleyball. There's even a home built
sauna on the grounds adjacent to the volleyball pool.
Enjoy a unique
twist on the property: Take a nude hike in the rain forest behind the property
on the well marked path, the shape of a circle that leads you back to the
grounds.

The restaurant has a veried
menu for all 3 meals of the day and feature local favorites as well as dishes
you will find most places such as burgers and sandwiches. Prices range from
$5-$10/meal, subject to change without notice. You will beer and liquor priced
similarly to the USA. You can buy your own liquor or beer before you depart San
Jose or at the local market down the highway. Wines are not stocked so bring
your own or buy in San Jose before you arrive.

Nightly rates are about USD $100/room/night. Rooms are
clean, neat and the resort is well maintained but don't go expecting the Ritz.
An all inclusive plan starts at about $135/person/night, with room,
taxes, tips, all meals and bar drinks included such as soda, beer and liquor.
Bring your own wine if you prefer.
Maximum guest room occupancy is
about 40-44 persons. Plan ahead as some weekends, the resort is sold out if a
group is in house or if an adult club from San Jose visits for the weekend.
Maximum guests total 40-44, usually on a weekend or it a group is at
the resort.
Rates here are not guaranteed and are subject to change
without notice.

This adults only property has guests from 30s to 60s in
age.

The locals are friendly but a bit shy. Some employees speak
English as well as Spanish of course. You can get what you need with a couple
of words of Spanish and the service personnel speak English.
This lush little resort is
a good base from which to explore the eastern side of the country. There's
something for you to do off site every day. There is not much to do at the
resort duing the day other than enjoying the sunshine (nude or not) which is
frequent and abundant. Nude use around the pool is available. Surprising little
touches include a custom-built hot tub and sauna as well as day beds, hanging
suspended by chains like a school yard swing set. There's a party room for
creative theme nights or adult mischief. Dancing nude or not is just fine, too.
Vegetation and the setting of the resort are perfectly situated at the
edge of the rain forest with a beautiful white water river that runs right
behind Mi Amor. About 10 miles away is a mountain range with active volcanoes,
great for sight seeing adventures.
The little bar and dance floor at
the rear of Mi Amor can really get cranked up if there's a crowd, so bring a
party with you when you visit.
More guests arrive for the weekends and
Cindy usually creates a monthly theme party, inviting everyone to
attend.

Where to begin? Costa Rica has it all except maybe for snow
skiing. From the resort, you can experience half-day or full day trips for:
Jungle tours, a tour of a large outside floral nursery with exotic plants
exported world-wide, white water rafting, ATV tours, zip lining, fresh water
and salt water fishing, scuba diving on the east coast, visits to the local
eco-friendly jungle farm which produces macadamia nuts, coffee and more,
rafting, tubing, skinny dip swimming and more.
Nearby in Siquerres town
to the east of Mi Amor, each Sunday, an unbelievable adventure show takes place
at 4 PM at the water park when the owner wrestles and then feeds a full grown
12 foot crocodile. If you're there, go see the show....pending an unexpected
demise of the showman who puts on the performance.
Cindy and Buddy can
also take you to hidden pools and scenic waterfalls the tour buses never see.
Across the highway, you take see the Agricultural university of Costa
Rica. Buddy & Cindy know some of the staff and professors there so it may
be possible to see the campus. We had a chance to jog through there early one
morning to see the 5,000 acre property, originally founded from an endowment by
the Kellogg company.
An extra treat: Cindy can take you to a
Rasta/herbal masseuse nearby for a perfect deep tissue massage followed by a
steam room treatment and cool down, a terrific way to spend your first day to
get away from the stress and strain...the reason you're on vacation in the
first place.

Diverse adventure touring is at your door step. |

If you want a simple, quiet little getaway place to
enjoy with your own party, Mi Amor is it. On the weekends, you may find more
action but it won't be mistaken for Hedonism. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
If you're looking for big crowds and a lot of
action, forget it or bring your own group. Other than weekend parties, the
property is pretty mild during the week. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
A niggling habit local workers and employees have
there is petty thievery....it didn't happen to us but we've had others tell us
of cases of missing sun glasses, watches or cameras. Just protect your
valuables as you would in any city or country where you travel. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
Local police in towns you pass through are always
eager to ticket foreigners for a shake down and $20 bucks. They spot with radar
guns that may or may not work. It's an excuse in our opinion. Warning: Near
villages and towns, the speed limit frequently changes from 80 KM/hour down to
60 KM/hour to 40 KM/hour and vice versa. You may see more cops around those
speed transition areas than on the open road. Beware both places. Cops will
gladly avoid writing a ticket if you have USD $20 handy. Their favorite ploy:
"Pay me what you've got and I'll forget about the ticket." |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
On the weekends,or during party time at the resort,
you may meet other ex-pats from North America or Europe who live in Costa Rica
full time. |

Costa Rica is a year-round country to visit.
The
countryside has a rainy season for 2-3 months yearly throughout Costa Rica.
Rainy months vary depending upon your location Costa Rica. The northwest coast
tends to be a bit drier than the rest of the country. A big plus is that even
though Costa Rica is bi-coastal (it boasts of both a Pacific and
Atlantic/Caribbean coast), the country does not have hurricanes, only seasonal
rainy periods which occur usually within a short 2-3 month period annually.
Areas surrounding Mi Amor generally experience more wetness in
December to February with intermittent showers the norm.

Wish the coast was nearer for deep sea fishing and diving,
although it's only 90 minutes or so to the east.
