 Negril - Jamaica |

Here are a few trip reports submitted by
some of our clients. Note: This resort was previously known as Grand Lido
Negril |

This was our second trip to Breezes Grand
Resort and Spa in Negril and our fourth visit to Jamaica. On both trips we
stayed on the C/O side of the resort and loved it. The vibe is mostly laid
back. Its basically get naked, have some drinks, relax and enjoy
yourself. The beach is excellent, with trees for shade, coarse clean sand, and
the water is beautiful. The pool is small, but great for volleyball if you can
get enough people to come out of the crystal clear sea to play. You can snorkel
right off the beach. The bar is well stocked most of the time and the grill
cant be beat. (You absolutely must have some of the jerked lamb chops.)
The resort is trying to discourage people from the textile side from visiting
the C/O bar and grill and that was nice to see. The music mix at the bar was
better this time, more classic and contemporary reggae. Couples on the C/O side
ranged in age from their 30s to early 70s and Id guess there were about
15 or 20 couples in all, most of them nude. As the year before, we met a lot of
nice people, mostly from the USA and Canada. As for dining we opted for the C/O
bar and grill and the Reggae Café most of the time. We did eat at the La
Pasta restaurant t one night but werent impressed. The daily breakfast
buffet and the beach party night buffet were fantastic. No complaints about our
room. Everything worked, it was kept clean and the view from our room was
beautiful. The grounds of the entire resort are well maintained and beautiful
as well. All in all, a great trip and we plan to return again in 2012.

My wife and I had a great time in Negril.
It was our first time at Breezes Grand Negril. In the past we had always went
to Breezes Runaway Bay, but when they renovated the resort they elected to get
rid of the nude beach. We thought the Breezes in Negril was nice, it was a
little more spread out than than Breezes Runaway Bay. The dining choices were
very good and we tried them all. I was a little disappointed that the Managers
Dinner Buffet did not have lobster, but maybe it was a seasonal issue. I liked
the protected beach area, but thought the nude pool was a little small. We will
more than likely go back and would have no problem suggesting it to others.

We are pleased to report that this trip was
GREAT and the 'old Grand Lido' charm had returned! We plan to return in Sep/Oct
again! We were scheduled to go to Breezes Rio Bueno (Braco) in May, but found
out they 'lost their lease' on the property. So, with much thought, we decided
to go back to Negril despite the fact that our last trip to Negril (our 35th
time) was disappointing; we wondered if they were going to upkeep the property,
since we did not see much maintenance taking place back in Sep/Oct 2010!

We liked the private Clothing Optional
(C/O) beach at Breezes Negril. It was a very nice and friendly husband/wife
type crowd at the C/O beach. The beach was private and we did not feel we were
in a fish bowl from others passers-by walking along the beach. People were very
nice and we enjoyed just being at a clothing optional. My wife went only
topless and felt like she fit in. Some ladies wore two piece swimsuits and also
fit in. That was good.
The staff were nice and the food and drinks were
good. I had a very minor medical issue and the staff nurse was very attentive.
I thought the resort was well kept.
The evening entertainment was just
average. The bands were only average and they had trouble on some nights to get
people on the dance floor.
We enjoyed the sail boats and the snorkel
cruises. We thought they did a good job.
Overall, one would go for the
C/O beach and food/drink at Breezes Negril and not expect superb nightly
entertainment. Thanks for being so kind and we appreciate your personal
attention. |

The resort is very nice although I wouldn't
call it 5 star; which was fine with me because we're pretty casual. In fact I
was annoyed that they required a jacket at one of the restaurants because I
don't wear a jacket in Jamaica! The service was excellent but not intrusive. We
wanted relaxation and we were left alone when we wanted to be. I read some
other reports about difficulty getting drinks and that was not our experience;
the service at the nude bar and grill was excellent and prompt. The lamb chops
(any time you want them) were unbelievable. We had a great time and will
definitely consider returning. |

After reading several negative report on
Trip Advisor we had some possible concerns however upon arrival those concerns
were gone. Yes there are some signs of age but you are not there to be in your
room. The beaches are simply beautiful. We were on the C/O side by design and
even my wife who initially was hesitant became comfortatble. The staff at
Breezes goes out of their way to make you comfortable. We must describe the C/O
side as that of tasteful nudity. Nothing raunchy about it at all. The C/O beach
in our opinion is far more conducive to meeting other couples and striking up a
conversation compared to the main beach. Will we return? Absolutely

The people and food were great. The weather
was terriffic. The entertainment was good but the music was so loud it made
your ears bleed.
The nude beach is too small and you can only go nude on
the beach. Unless you have a room on the bottom floor with outside doors on the
nude beach side you cannot even go from your room to the beach without clothes.
If you really like to go nude, this is not the place. With such a restricted
nude area, they should restrict it to nude use only. There were way too many
people wearing clothes on the nude beach.
CASTAWAYS NOTE re Grand Lido Negril comments: The
area in question is called a clothing optional beach. Nudity is not mandatory.
Rooms that area adjacent to the clothing optional beach are called "Cove"
rooms. The main beach which is 3 times the size is on the opposite side of the
resort. |

The service from the minute we arrived at
the airport super clubs desk to the departure was excellent. The resort was
everything promised and more. We loved the activities and the food was superb.
Our only complaint was that we did not stay long enough to take advantage of
the optional excursions. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing stay. A S |
